Patent search and analysis for the UK–Gulf corridor

Eight years as a patent analyst, specialising in the gap most IP practices haven't filled: rigorous, jurisdiction-accurate intelligence across Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the wider GCC. Prior-art, patentability and freedom-to-operate searches for UK and European inventors, too.

Most UK practitioners know EPO and USPTO well. Very few know SAIP

The GCC Patent Office stopped accepting new applications in January 2021. Protection now means filing nationally: with SAIP (the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property), in the UAE, and in each of the other Gulf states, every one with its own office, language requirements and timeline. Patents the GCC Patent Office granted before then are still in force, some until about 2041, so a proper search has to cover the legacy GCC register and all six national offices.

Add the technology sectors linked to Saudi Vision 2030 and Abu Dhabi's Economic Vision 2030 expanding into Europe and the US, and there's real, current demand on both sides of the corridor. This practice exists to sit in that specific gap.

How it works

01

Tell me about it

A short email or call about your technology and what you need to know. If you'd like an NDA before sharing details, I'll send one first.

02

Fixed quote

I scope the search and quote a fixed fee before any work starts.

03

Your report

Every reference listed and the closest ones explained, with a delivery date confirmed in your quote: typically 1–2 working days for a scan search, 3–5 for patentability, 5–10 for FTO and 2–4 weeks for a landscape. Legal-status checks through some GCC offices take longer, and I'll flag that up front.

04

Your decision

You decide what to do next, with your patent attorney if you're filing. Reports are written so an attorney can pick them up directly.

Analyst training, GCC focus

Eight years searching, categorising and reporting on inventions as a patent analyst sit behind this practice — the same discipline now applied specifically to the gap between UK/EU patent practice and the fast-changing GCC regimes.

Rather than compete as a generalist IP consultancy, it's built deliberately narrow: the jurisdictions and technology-search work most UK practices haven't developed deep coverage in yet, with particular depth in water, energy, mechanical and industrial technologies, and AI.

Start with a conversation, not a contract.

Tell me what you've invented, or the technology and market you're concerned about. I'll tell you honestly which search, if any, is the right next step.
